New to the site, found this post and, Wow! I gotta get my quad on here. But, I looked and looked and darned if I don't have a good picture of my 250R! So, here is a little different set-up, what I do with it in the winter:
86Rrider - sent you a PM - we need more info on this setup. How well and how deep of snow can you go through?
BTW that looks sick.
That is the chit right there..... How does it do? I have been considering that after seeing a couple others but have not talked to anyone that has it...
you have to get a video of that thing in action
awesome set up, lets see it slinging some snow
pic of my 250r before going in the dunes for the weekend
That's an old SCI Snow-Traxx conversion kit. It's about 20 yrs old now, as well as SCI is no longer in business.
As for how well it goes, it's like being able to ride you quad on snow, only you have a ton of traction and not alot of directional control. So, like a snowmobile, only it still feels like a quad.
Snow depth, I'm not sure on that. I've had the kit since '98 (I'm the 3rd owner), I've had it on my machine 8 winters, only trail rode it one weekend in '07, otherwise, just around the fields here by my house. Deepest snow I had it in was about ten inches of powder and it was just throwing about 12-foot roosts of snow the whole time.
The tracks do put a big load on the engine, so I think top speed on that one trail ride was about 48 MPH. But, my friends I was riding with were all on old sleds (they call it their antique week-end) so 45 was about top speed most of the trip.
Sorry, no video. If I start now, I might be able to figure out how to get a video on here or youtube by the time snow flies.
