Spring change for softer ride???

I recently bought stage 3 long travel shocks for my 400ex to do along with my roll design a arms. I ordered them through an eBay elka dealer and gave him all my info. They are 19 inches long and weighted for a 150 pound rider who rides trails. When I received the shocks and installed them I was slightly disappointed in how hard they still rode. Don't get me wrong still way better than stock 400ex pogo stick shocks but I wanted to know if I could change out a medium action spring for a less stiff one to soften my ride? Or are there any other possibilities? Please help
