400ex swingarm on 250r?

I think that I read somewhere at one time or another that a 400ex swingarm would fit a 250r? Does that work? If so, would you have to run the 400ex linkage and rear shock?

I have a 250r that I would like a shorter and lighter swingarm for, but dont want to pay for aftermarket. I know the 400ex is both lighter and shorter, but I also know it runs a different link setup than the R. And since I just got a new TCS rear for my R, I dont want to have to order a 400ex rear shock.
