In less than a week, the riders have headed a few hundred miles north of Florida to Washington, GA for Round #3 of the GNCC Series. Aonia Pass Motocross Park once again is the Georgia destination for the third year.
By 11:00AM this morning, over 300 riders have already arrived at Aonia Pass to get a head start at finding a good parking spot and check out the track.
Level spots were few and far between on this rolling hill terrain, so even the vendors were forced to compensate. The hydraulic lift system on the Maxxis rig made it appear to be hovering in position.
Unlike the wet conditions at Aonia Pass the past two years from heavy rains before and during the weekend, conditions this year are dry!
Jeff Russell was out early watering down the entrance rode to keep the dust down.
The start location for the race is once again located on the east side of the MX track. On the start the riders will go around a few turns before heading into the woods.
They will immediately encounter a virgin section of track with multiple possible lines for them to pick from as they follow the arrows stapled to the trees.
The track may be dry, but racer productions has thrown in a few water crossings and mud holes to keep things interesting.
Buren Hamrick was busy building a last minute dirt bridge across the river after deciding not to use the wooden bridge that they originally planned to use for the race.
After a short woods sections the riders are dumped back onto the MX track which consists on some very easy table tops and double jumps, but there are also some huge table tops and doubles thrown in that will challenge even the best riders if they attempt to clear the gap.
After the MX section, the track heads back along the perimeter of the woods where many riders have parked to pit during the race. The track then will renter the mx track and then head deep into the woods for some technical riding and back out into some of the fields for some high speed sections.
