By the end of the 2nd lap, Bill Ballance remained in the lead, and Chris Borich moved up to 2nd Place after William Yokley let him by when he came charging up behind him. Borich pulled to within six seconds of Ballance by the beginning of lap three, and William Yokley dropped back ten seconds behind Borich after slicing a huge hole in his rear tire that also punctured several tireballs which left his rear tire partially flat.
With William Yokley losing time due to a partially flat rear tire, #7 Chris Jenks began to close the 45 second gap that seperated him from William at the beginning of lap three.
Derisi continued his charge in 5th place, but he wasn't able to gain any time on Jenks.
Lagzdins remained in 6th place at the end of lap two, but Smiley was all over his rear bumper and passed him early in the 3rd lap to take over the 6th spot in his charge to the front after an unfortunate start.
#13 Todd Knippenberg was only a few seconds back in 8th place after passing #9 Brandon Ballance before the end of lap #2.
#11 Michael Houston moved up to 10th place and was only a few seconds behind Brandon Ballance. #69 Thomas Barrett had dropped back to 11th with #23 Bryan Baker also eventually passing Barrett to gain one more position.
By the end of lap three, Chris Borich had taken over the lead.
Bill remained within striking distance of Borich only two seconds back and would go on to pass Borich back for the lead only to have Chris recapture the lead shortly afterwords.
The two riders would swap the lead back and forth several times during the fourth lap
William Yokley was no longer in the mix with the two front runners as he dropped back almost 1.5 minutes behind the leaders due to his partially flat rear tire, which allowed jenks to pull within a few seconds of William heading into the fourth lap.
Santo Derisi recorded the 3rd fastest lap time in lap three and pulled within 30 seconds of Yokley and Jenks.
