With the white flag out, and the leaders reported due in within minutes, I ran over to the last few turns to see how this race would play out. We had been informed that Yokely had taken the lead and that he was moments away from taking his first win of the 2006 season.
Everyone waited, wondering who would be first out of the woods but we recieved nothing. Static crackled when finally one of the course workers radios came to life as the tale was told. Loudly and in a much excited tone, the worker relayed that lappers were in the way and that the Pro's were pushing them out of the way! Less then 19 seconds seperated the top riders as they were bunched up from 1st to 10th. All we could do was listen for more info, and when it came it was not good. A rider had blocked the course and a bottleneck had formed.
Finally, the growl of a fast moving quad could be heard in the trees and it was Bill Ballance heading for the checkered flag!

The finish was a heart breaker for Yokely. Going from first so close to the end to 6th will only ramp up his determination for the next round.
