By the second Turn, #356 Mike Novak had secured the lead carving his way around the inside of turn one and immediately setting up for turn two, which put his 2006 YFZ450 out front ahead of Sommers with #231 Michael Howell followed by #254 Wyane Tharp.

#160 Tom Bobrowicz hammered his 300EX through turn one hard on the gas and out running Terry Rowh aboard his Yamaha Blaster.

Class leader, Steven Mitchell aboard his Yamaha Warrior moved in behind Terry Rowh in the third spot, and by the end of lap one Mitchell passed his way into second place behind Bobrowicz and was applying the pressure.

With all the starts completed, and the race well underway, it was time to make the journey to the creek section, and since it was probably close a mile walk, a wagon ride was the best alternative for those not looking to walk.
