1st off - I finally got through all 57 pages of this thread and I am humbled by the builds you guys have created! There are some SICK machines on here and thank god there are still people out there, not only keeping these 250R's alive, but making them even better then the day they rolled off the factory floor.
I found this place when doing research and gathering info about these 250R quads as I am about to buy a very worn and beaten down 86 250R TRX in a couple days.
Until I get that one home I'll share a couple pics of my passion - my first generation 1982 300R ATC.

I built this Trike from the ground up using a combination of rare vintage parts and some newer more modern components.
*300R Hondaline engine
*Full vintage Bassani expansion chamber and silencer
*Vintage Westcoast +4 swingarm
*36mm Kehin
*Boyeson CF Reeds
*Reed spacer
*300ex hubs to widen the rear 4 inches
*300ex 9 inch wheels wrapped in 20x11x9 Razrs(summer) & 9 inch 300ex wheels with 22x10x9 '4 snow' for winter and drags.
*35 tooth rear sprocket and 12 tooth front sprocket
*85 200x front end conversion to run a more narrow front tire
and many more small mods I'm probably forgetting.
Anyways, I look forward to getting the 86TRX and hopefully making a nice looker and runner out of it too.
Nice build, it looks like a beast of a trike! Is this a stock frame? Doe you have any problems with heating issues, especially on the trails?Quote:

And also, can you post a picture with the rear plastics?
Good luck with the 86!

Thanks. It's a powerhorse. 300 2-stroke in such a tiny light frame = arm puller!
Yup, Stock 1982 250R ATC frameQuote:

Not so far. I run it really hard too. I think I have my jetting dialed in really good & use 91 octane gas mixed 40:1 with Amsoil. I try to clean the fins on the engine before and after each ride too.Quote:

I'll try and get one on here soon. You can see them in this video ...Quote:

Thanks - it's rough and the seller says it's 'stuck in second gear' so I guess I gotta be splitting cases. *sigh*Quote:

yeah but i gotta say there are some really stupid people out there... there was a guy i buddy of mine that got this totally pimped 400ex for hardly nothing and the guy said the trans was stuck in gear and that the head studs were junk and they were strip... so we got it home went right n to N. and we kinda had a kick out of it... pull the motor apart and the head gasket was toasted... we had to do a little work to it but nothing like they guy thought... they were huge crack heads though... i swear the one guy didnt know where the hell he was...Quote:

I hear you. I'd LOVE for this situation to be the same - hah - but my luck, won't be a chance of that. But I guess we'll see.Quote:

For a 250RTRX I *think* I'm getting pretty good deal, even if I do have to split the cases and do some tranny work. 400 bucks for the bike.
I'll know tomorrow as I will be driving down there, 4 hours each way, to pick it up - get it home and get started on this new project.
The owner told me it runs like a champ. We'll see.
I have some pics, but I'm almost ashamed to post them because the poor thing looks so damn rough. lol.
Here is mine! Need so get some real paddles for the rear.
