2008 Honda ATV Model Information

personally, i like the looks of those bikes, add an aftermarket bumper and take away the grill it would not be a bad looking quad. and you guys need to stop saying the 700 is **** and just leave it alone, hondas first big bore sport attempt it looks great, i was upset it did not have gas shocks though:( honestly, why didnt they add 450r shocks. other than that i like the looks of it. fuel injection, manual 5 speed, reverse, brakes dont look bad, weight is a little on the heavy side, probly 120 pounds more than a 450(i dont understand why the put the weight full of liquids and ready to ride, still i think a 450 weighs about 380-390 full of liquids) larger capicity fuel tank, honestly, if this bike isnt full of problems, it should be a winner with duners, recreational riders that like speed, and people who like to drag race. now the 400ex i am very disapointed with:( i was expecting a sportier looking bike with gas shocks, updated features, and mabe some motor work? we got new plastics, BS if you ask me

update, i like the way honda put all there bikes full of liquid weights but put tbd on there 450er, i think there are either some updates coming or honda is afraid to put the real ready to ride weight, seriously, i hate it when companys put estamated weights, i want to see the real weight not some rounded down figure to make it look better!

The 700, I think it will be ok when some new plastics are put on it, but it just looks too tall to me.

Now this is just my opinion, but I think the best thing they did to the 400ex's looks is the chrome heatshield:o idk, I'm just not liking it for some reason-especially the 2 color plastics.

I wonder how much better the new front shocks are, because they might be worthy of looking into buying for the older style 400's considering they will probably be cheaper than 450r shocks (because of the non rezzie style)

It's hard to judge something by just looking at a picture, so I guess we will have to wait till people start riding them

new suspension settings ... maybe they'll be valved better but the travel is the same

I think the re-bodied 400 is stupid, but I couldn't care less because I already have a 400.
As for the 700 it's growing on me and after seeing the action shots I like it even more. A new bumper and a little trimming will go a long way. I'm sure this will be a fast and reliable quad that will fit in well in the big bore segment. I just hope Honda realizes their mistake by the second year and offers it with a solid axle, larger rear tires, and a little lighter. If that happens I will buy one and I'm sure a lot of other people will too.
The Big Red is pretty cool and if I had to buy a SxS(which I don't think I ever would) I would get the Big Red.

Possibly some of the ugliest quads i've seen in my life, And the black crf's are ugly as hell too, two rides and those plastics will be shot.

not saying anything about the 700. we all know how it looks...but remember............................there is probably going to be a HRC some sort of a kit for it. Either that or another version kind of like can-am maybe (X)? just wait and see. a hood, bumper, and remove the big plastic peices then see what it looks like.

ITS BEEN DISAPPOINTING FOR DAMN NEAR 20 YEARS!

I have always been a honda fan at heart but have finally "Came out of the closet" and switched to Kawi.

Think about it...
In the begining Honda ruled the ATC's 200s,200x,250r, and the 350x.

Then came the trx's, the 250r, 250x......and nothing till 1999 when the 400ex came out! That was a 10 year gap!

With honda for the past 20 years its been the same old ***** different color routine. ITS GETTING OLD!

I remember seeing the yfz for the first time at the WISP GNCC, My thoughts were "I wonder what Hondas answer to this will be?"
The answer came a year later, and to me the 450r never looked "Finished" looks like the were close to getting the thing done then Yamaha dropped the yfz and the Honda guys said hurry up and "THROW" some fenders on that damn thing and get it out to the dealers. Then we as consumers end up with a decent quad that is cosmetically challanged! I have always hated the patched up fender to tank look of the 450r's, it just looks unfinished! Now this seems to be the "norm" look for new quads.
I miss the old honda smooth lines.

OH one more thing. Im getting tired of the 2 piece removable front fenders that seem to be the norm for all new atvs. How many of us are MX racers? Evidentally they think we all are! I would venture a guess that 100,000 quads sold there would be 98,000 woods and recreation riders that want full fenders that dont fall apart in the middle, and 2,000 Mx riders that need to break out the hacksaw and dremel!

Im done but i dont feel any better!

i think the ex will still be huge because its the same way its always been, you dont like the plastic buy some for an older model theyre all the same, lastly id like to add that while honda may have poor design teqchniques and the most pathetic customer relations people of em all you still cant pass up the fact that they do have reliability behind them and thats why i think the 700 will do well because youve got people everywhere thats gonna buy em up simply because of the honda sticker on em. reall in my opinion the 700 reminds me so much of the kfx700, so much potential wasted.

Why not buy a Yamaha and have both reliability and looks? :confused:
