Bill Ballance would be the first rider through the pits with Natalie Jr remaining right behind him. Ballance would surprise Natalie by pulling into his pits for fuel and goggles, which put Natalie Jr into the Overall lead.
Chris Borich would also pit, which allowed Yokley to leap up into second place after passing both Ballance and Borich in the pits.

Natalie Jr was prepared to lead the overall, so early in the race because, so he pulled over and waved William Yokley past him to set the tempo with Natalie Jr in chase.

Ballance and Borich would take off from the pits back to back with Matt Smiley, Bryan Cook, and Chris Jenks in pursuit separated by only a few seconds.

Gallagher dropped back to 8th and began feeling the pressure from Adam McGill with Jeremy Rice and Bryan Baker battling for the 10th spot.

In the final laps of the race, the battle for the lead was intense as William Yokley and Bill Ballance would swap positions back and forth.
Natalie Jr would clip a tree and lose a tooth of his front sprocket, which put a stop to his early charge as he dropped back out of the lead pack.
