I found that a 14 tooth front and stock rear worked the best before I did my motor work. Now that I have more power, should I change it for more top end? I do a lot of hill climbs and hill drag racing, but I also enjoy blasting down the flats. Anybody with 426's or 440's have suggestions? By the way, I have 20 inch rear haulers.
I think Im roll'in on Twenties also....
and run a 15/36 gearing if its flat to med. size sand hills.
If I rode on large sand hills alot i would probably go with stock gearing.15/38
Go with either stock, or a little taller. I think that would be the best.
I run 16/36 gearing on mine in the dunes and it runs great. Look at my sig to see what I have done!
Nate: that seems like realy tall gearing. Do you ride steep hills? And if and when you do ride the steep hills are you able to use 2nd gear or do you have to use 1st?

I run 15/36 gearing also.
I run 14/38 and it runs awsome in the dunes. I tried 15/38 and it was O.K. but bogged on top of some hills and could not get the jump off the line as well. I also tried a 13/38 and it had great low end but i always found myself running out of gears so i went back to the 14/38
I also run 20" haulers. I ran it with the mods listed below and stock gearing. I thought it ran great. Then, for the hell of it, I tried a 16t front. I couldn't believe the difference. My motor really comes on in the mid range and the gearing lets it really stretch it's legs. Ya, it hurt the bottom a tad, but just keep the revs up and it's no problem at all. Shooting up really steep hills is no problem in second gear.
I'm still running stock gearing and find it works well on both the hill climbs & draggin, perfect happy medium. I'm also running 20" haulers but I am going to try a couple different tire combo's over Labor day weekend to see what happens - I'm going to give a set of med buff drag lites 22x12x8, set of 20x10x10 taller haulers, and a of 20x10x10 9 paddles a go. They are all tires that my buddies run on their R's but I'd like to give them a whirl to see how they work
