if you're making it out of metal it will be plenty heavy enough
if you make it out of wood...well...dont use wood
quad041, if you ever have any ramp building questions feel free to ask me on AIM, i think you have my screen name but if not its shaggs2dope2000
anyways to answer your question yes when you hit it it will move. our old one moved all over the place and it was real heavy too. for our rev 3 we're building we're making sort of a shark tooth/saw blade looking thing that hangs down on the bottom. \/\/\/\/\/ kind of like that ya know. should help it stay in place a lot better.
thanks guys, i have pics but i need my wife to resize them so i can post em, yea we'll have to do something so it doesnt move, thanks again
my first ramp never had any problems with flippin it was fine as long as it is pretty long
shift_dvs and myself welded 1/2" spikes about 4" long to anchor ours to the ground
Thats a good idea Juggs... how about legs (like a ski pole, with the skirt thiny on it) on about a 45 degree angle off the back that stuck into the dirt, do you think that would be enough to hold it to the ground?
yeah i think that would work too. but it might look a little goofy. it would kinda look like muffs ramp (no offense lol) which is why i like the anchor idea better plus its probably a little simpler. i was thinking maybe just get a couple railroad ties and weld em on and it will spike it into the ground.
here are a couple of pics
