I was thinking that a snowmobile with a little altering might be pretty cool to try on the dunes. Anyone ever seen this attempted before? Just make the track paddles a little bigger and change up the front skids? What do you think?

you dont have to change anything a snowmobile in the sand is fun and fast u dont have to change anything
How do the front ski's do for turning? Does it get pretty good traction? I though it might have problems in really deep loose sand.
ummm well if you have warebars then yea it turns deep sand im not sure only dragged on wet sand dont have any video or anything but if you go to youtube and type in snowmobile at silver lake you see what looks like to be a 600 skidoo kicking fourwheelers a**
I think it would be extra sweet since they dont even know what the heck a snowmobile is down here in AZ!!!
For one, you'll need a rad instead of a heat exchanger. You'll wear out your track sliders real fast and your skiis will take a beating. Good luck keeping it cool.
Not positive but pretty sure that the snow lubes track, enough hours on that sled in the sled it will probably lock up.
I would like to see one tho.
I dont think it would do good. Sand would get all inside of the engine, and it will be too hot, Definitely be cool to see and I know someone will probably be able to do it.
Yes, I've seen it. Just last year during Thanksgiving weekend at Glamis. There were two or three (can't remember) snowmobiles going up and down Olds. It was weird to say the least!
there is a picture of one in the sand in may's dirtwheels
