Exhaust Leak??? Help!
I have a 400ex with a DG exhaust. There is an exhaust leak where the muffler connects to the header. I can't seem to get it real tight. I have used hose clamps, silicon, etc.
Is this okay to have an exhaust leak there, or am I losing a lot of horsepower???
I know on 2 strokes any kind of exhaust leak reduces horsepower.

Good question, Ill be watching this one. I broke a bolt off in my '86 200x(trike) in the top hole and there deffinently is leaking. I don't have much top end it seems, but 1st 2nd and 3rd pull hard.

GO to summit or Jeg's and get a car exhaust clamp. Measure the diameter of your pipes and get it accordingly. You can either get a clamp to clamp down on the outside silencer junction or you can get something called a Lap-Joint clamp which is made for fitting 2 pipes of different diameter together. Ive seen both used with success and theyre cheap too...

Thanks for the clamp info.
Does anybody know if there is any performance loss due to this exhaust leak??? (between muffler and header/pipe)
Somebody has to know.....
