2005 GNCC "The Penton" Round #7 Youth Coverage

Round 3 of the Youth GNCC series rolled into Sunday Creek MX Park located in Millfield,Ohio for another round of Youth GNCC action.

Friday afternoon had many young riders getting prepared in the late spring sun for what everyone hoped would be another great race! Mother nature did not disappoint and for another year the Penton would we a very muddy event! Many of the racers got to witness what would be awesome racing conditions turned into a swamp!

With the start time set at 8 a.m. , parents and racers began the early preperations for a soggy race. Glouster Ohio resident Kyle Hellyer sits in the rain as Racer Productions makes last minture preperations to the course. After a 3rd place finish at the muddy Steele Creek race, Kyle had shown he could race in the mud!

Tyler Swain made the race all the way from Duncannon Pa. Here Tyler and his Father await the instructions during the riders meeting.

69 entries for this race was incredible! The youth riders are flocking to the GNCC's and it is an awesome sight to see!

90cc Production was first to get fired up and off on this 2 miles course. Almost every racers I spoke with said this was another great layout!

Joshua Merritt was going to grab the holeshot with Walker Fowler moving up fast on the outside. Some of these 2 stroke mini's have been worked over pretty good and thier speeds are enough to have anyone on thier toe's at the start!

Joshua Merritt, Dylan Kell and Walker Fowler get close in the first turn. For those that miss the early morning action because these are kid's racing, you are missing some of the hottest action of the entire weekend!

Micheal Keleman and Cody Hill both had bad starts. Cody had informed me he was going to hang with Keleman off the start and follow this talented rider and had expectations of getting upfront early this race. Unfortunatley Keleman missed the throttle off the line and was late getting up to speed. Cody laid back following his own advice and they both started at the end of the pack in first turn.

As the riders hit turn 2, Joshua Merritt was still the leader with Fowler on his grabbar. The 19 rider field was off and running at the Penton!

90cc Limited 11-15

Joshuah Dains and Nathan Rothermel battle for the holeshot heading into turn 1. Dains would hold the lead and get the holeshot!
