I just bought a pretty beat up older suzuki LT-80 and pulled the plastic case that covers the motor and down near the fan blade on the right side there was green engine coolant sitting down in there. Do the LT's take coolant and should it be there? Also there was a ton of grease, mud and water built up under the plastic case is that normal as well?

No coolant. It's air cooled.
No, all that yuck is not normal. I suspect some riding abuse..Lol
Clean it up and get it running (or try) and we'll go from there.

Beats me. I know it's not coolant coming from the motor.
Maybe it's oil/gas leaking from the seal and sat a while ??

Your piston is burnt down quite far (meaning wear).
Get yourself one of those $55 ebay cylinder kits. That'd save you some money. It has, a new cylinder, piston,pin,pin bearing, cir clips gaskets and 4 new cylinder studs (you won't need to use them). oh yea and a cheapo spark plug too.
Yea it's def coolant. It's bright green and smells like radiator fluid. I called the original owner back today and he acted clueless on how it got there. Very odd!Quote:

The guy I bought it from told me he just bought one of those $50 Ebay cylinder deals and rebuilt it himself. Then it lost power within a week of the rebuild and wouldn't start. So he gave up and listed it for sale. I was thinking about having this cylinder bored out, head decked and going with a over sized Wiesco piston. Do you think that would be good idea or no?
The anti-freeze had to be spilled onto it.
If the kit was new, it should be fine. Maybe something went wrong. The piston in the pic is well wore. A week wouldn't burn it down that far. Maybe he put the piston in backwards..??
I use Suzuki parts...No wiseco for me.
