The long short is that my quad won't do chit now. As in 'nada'. I put a brand new Yuasa on it and still absolutely nothing. I am thinking it may be the teather kill switch is shot, but other than that I am clueless.

If you need any more info on my ride just let me know. Man this freaking sux.:grr: Please help my ignorant ***.:o

I am ashamed to say 'no I do not'.:(

What do you think I need to start testing Pappy?

you will need to check voltage at the battery, then the soloniod, then check for current from the soloniod to the starter.

i always run a second ground wire from the battery to the engine on any 400ex with electrical issues. 9 times outta 10 it seemd to be a ground issue, especially if the frame has been pc'd.

also check every electrical connection including taking apart the starter/kill switch. ive seen mud and dirt get in there and cause no starts.

and if you have a kill switch, disconnect it and see if she starts. alot of times it will cause problems if not installed proberly. one of my 400's started having a delayed start condition and it ended up being a bad wire coming out of the kill switch

Hmm, I have has this particular kill switch...a Gunnar one..on my quad for over a year now. I guess they just go bad every now and then? I am sure Gunnar QC is not that of Pro Design, huh?:o I will check that too Pappy. Thanks so much....man 'work' is going pretty good today, lol! ;)

check the fuses. and try to connect the silenoid with a srew driver and see if that works if it does then you know it's not the starter. and that the silenoid is probably shot.

I thought it was a pretty cool idea that honda gives you a spare fuse right next to the one in use. they think of everything:p

is it a two wire setup?

If it is hook one wire to the wire that goes to your coil ( black and yellow ) and hook the other one to a ground

I don't know who resurrected this thread but I can let you all know what happened to my ride....cause now it runs just like it should.

My solution involved a fuse..........saying anymore will embarrass myself further.:o :p

my 400 back in the day i had a problem with it it would always blow a fuse after every start, i think it was that grenade shaped deal behind the battery lol but it was an expensive fix
