Last year I put the pipes, jets andK&N air filter(listed on bottom) on my 400ex. Just recently I put the 12.5-1 weisco piston and stage 2 hot cam on the bike. Last year I had no problems with this, but now when I am practicing holeshots I can't keep the front end down. We are going 1 tooth higher on the front(from stock) and maybe 2 less on back, this may make a difference. Anyway I need to keep the front end down, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ExKicksAzz

Lean forward a little bit, or start in 2nd gear.

What about a 1 1/4 inch longer swingarm.
I had a 400ex set up for xc and it was a welcomed addition to the set up.
i dont think gearing is your problem, its weight transfer and traction.

i have the same set up, 440 with stage 2 hot cam, and a 1 1/4 longer swingarm. The swingarm helps a little on the start but i noticed it the most climbing hills. The best thing i found on the starts is sitting up as far as i can and shifting into second as fast as i can. Hope that helps a little.

get up as far as u can go like on the gas tank..and lean over the bars..and then when the gate drops let the quad go and shift ur weight to the back and hang off the back of the seat..and ur front end wont come up ...it works for me

I have an 1/14 swingarm, have stock gearing and start in 2nd gear. Works pretty well for me.

The 1 and 1/4 swingarm would be your best bet, but if u dont have the funds like alot of us on here, I would keep your gearing however u like it in the woods, and adjust where you sit at on your quad, Try a second gear start, or put eveyting u have on the tank, and try not to pick that nose up to quick!
