Need help, I am looking to soften my axis on the back. What is meant by adjusting the tender spring, and how. Not the preload.

most axis rear shocks have threaded crossover adjustment for the tender spring. There are two rings with slots in them inside the tender spring. Do not confuse these with the preload adjuster rings on the top of the shock, the crossover rings are below these on the inside of the tender spring. To soften your shock you need to raise the crossover rings so that they are closer to the top of the shock. Be sure to lock them back together once you have it where you want it. Raising the crossovers increases the amount of shock travel on the tender spring before the crossover to the main spring is made. While it wont actually be any softer at the very beginning of the stroke, the soft part of the stroke will last longer making it feel softer and requiring larger hits to transfer it to the main spring. Do not raise them so much that the tender spring can reach coil bind however.
