Weather was just about perfect, sunny with a steady breeze which was needed to blow the dust away. Excellent views including Mt. Ranier.

This was an eighty minute race on a groomed 6 1/4 mile Euro GP course with a MX track.
I heard there were around 1000 racers for the weekend.

Duncan Racing (http://duncanracing.com/) had several riders in the race. They are a very friendly group:)

They would also like to give a special thanks to Kevin & Amy Wallace for taking very good care care of them when the team is in the area.

I was only there for the Sunday race, the pro atv race was the last race for the weekend. The bikes were running all weekend as well as other quad races. Most of the pics are from the mx section, pretty much the only area accessible for taking pictures. Most of the GP course is on the other side of the hill.

I overheard several of the riders after the race, they all said it was rough but a great course and race.

Hey Joe thanks for being there. I saw a guy with an exriders shirt on and I had to ask. Glad I was able to meet you! I counted 7 blisters on my left hand and 3 on my right. I am sore and can hardly move but it was a great time. Great pictures. I will try to post some too that my wife took.

The DB thing was weird. Some guys that read 105, they let pass. I came in at 97. Kind of stupid if you ask me. They barely revved the engine to take there reading.

I rode the GP course and MX track on the weekend before the race when it was an open play day. It's in really good shape...but they do water the piss out of it in certain areas, so if any of you are racing in the 4 hour team race in April, get some goggles with tear-offs. The only thing slowing me down was not being able to see where I was going. There's a couple of "surprises" out there on the course, but for the most part it's easier than most trail riding around the Northwest. I hope to see a bunch of you out there on April 24th and 25th.

great pics joe!
i rode both saturday & sunday.... vet B(7th place) & production B(9th place). i'm feeling it now! i was #57t on the gasgas. i'm not too sure about riding both days anymore... going into sundays race already sore hits you in the 1st lap... lots of quad riders bailed out after saturday's race... the track was brutal in several spots. some of the riders that have been there often said it was the roughest they've ever seen it. i finshed is about all i can say, but i had a blast doing it!

they have results up on the WORCS website, transponder scoring means fast results... gotta love that!

Now I remember who you were. I bet you were sore after riding sat too. I can't beleive how rough it was. The transponders were great. I remember last year having to stop and have them scan me. I was always affraid I was going to kill it. Thetransponders made it a lot easier!

Thanks for the kind words:) I still have to work on my photography and editing skills, but I think I found out how to get the 'close up' shots;)

Duncanracer, it looked like he was ticked when Doug passed him, did he loose a lap because of that?

AndreS, I remember the GasGas, I saw it in the pits before the race but no one was around and I didn't know it was you. I think I got some pics of you racing.

Natertot426ex, nice meeting you too, your hands looked bad but I bet they looked worse the next day. arew you going to the 4 hour race? What about the Longview WORCS race?

Dirtmomma, I don't know if i'm ready but i'll be there:p I wish I could get my shocks rebuilt before then. Most all of the pics are from the mx section, I hear the rest of the track was even more rough.

Chad, we have to get together with Rob to work out a game plan;)

Looking forward to covering the WORCS #8 at Longview in June:)

Hope to see you there,

Joe

Hope you make it Joe. The weather should be better than the last time we all got together. Should be fun, we're bringing lots of beer and fire wood. Planning on leaving friday after work and staying the weekend. I have Monday off to heal and fix whatever I brake:o

If I remember right, Soggy will bring enough beer for EVERYONE!!!!

And Joe...yep, we need to figure things out. Send a PM to Robert on the club website, and get him "motivated". I've got a decent game plan in mind, and I was thinking of finding a 4th rider for towards the end of the race (my dad wants to ride)...But, I'll let Robert and You decide if that can happen. He was putting in 14 to 15 minute laps, which is faster than we'll be after 3 hours and 4 or so laps apiece.

I will have to see on the Longview race. June is going to be a busy month for me. My hands are doing somewhat better. The big blister on my left hand is starting to heal. I can barely open it without it feeling like it tearing. Soon enough it will be gone. I don't think I will make it to the 4 hour race. My two buddies I was with, Sam and Todd, want me to go to the Price WORCS race. I can only afford so many trips right now.

Not so sure about the firewood Mike. I didn't see any fire pits, basically just a grass field. I plan on showing up Saturday morning and I have Moday and Tuesday off:devil:

Joe, was the MX part like an actual MX track, with big jumps and stuff, or was it just rough whoops type stuff? What was the GP part like? I didnt really take the time to load all the pics...dial up is POS.:o :p

chad400ex

I saw a few fire pits out in the field. Might want to ask the guys at the track before we head out there. I've got a bunch of cedar planks from the fence I tore down last Summer. They'll burn really good.

Oh, and the MX track had jumps, but they weren't anything huge. No big doubles. Lots of small table tops, a couple drop offs, one nice step up jump, some quad swallowing whoops, and a tunnel jump that will send you to the moon if you hit with any kind of speed.

The mx track looked fairly tame, ghey didn't use the whoops section, just a few mild table tops, no doubles or triples.

I was talking to some of the guys and we figured that anything better than 14 minutes was pretty good....for us amateurs . It's not all wide open throttle. There's a lot of hairpins, some of them are off camber. There's also a couple of drop offs out there that if you're not familiar with the track, they could really screw up your day. An average speed of 30 MPH is a 12 minute lap, so...there's a some 4th and 5th gear sections, but the sections where you drop back into 2nd are the ones that keep your average speed down. I did 4 laps when I was out there (after 5 laps on the MX track) and my lap times were 17 (learning the course), 15, 12, and 15 (got major arm pump) minutes..."approximately". I wasn't running a stop watch, just looking at my watch when I started and finished.

You must have saw my post before I deleted it. I had realized that the average speed was about 30mph:eek: and figured I had spoke too soon so I deleted it. When I first started thinking about going to the 4hour I was figuring on around 6 to 7 laps per rider, in our three man team.

chad400ex
03-31-2004, 10:05 PM
So if you average 15 minute laps, that's 16 laps in 4 hours...

3 riders: one guy does 6 laps, the others do 5.

4 riders: everyone does 4 laps.

Having a 4th rider will decrease your average lap times just due to reduced rider fatigue alone. If you could get down to 14 minute average laps, that would get you one more lap around the track then the other guys. Something tells me that with all of the riders out there, lap times won't be as good just from all the dust and increased traffic.

i raced with it blown, i had no choice.. had enough work trying to get my rear brake replaced (modified/adapted a 400ex caliper), and getting the steering dampner on... part of that was waiting for the parts... you get what youcan get fast & make it work sometimes. my shock builder didn't have time to get it in either.

sunday morning i discovered a crack in my frame & rode it anyways, luckily it didn't break, but now i get to have the shock rebuilt, & tear down the bike to have some welding/gusseting done too.... gotta get going on it.

whoops, naw there are none of those out there!!! j/k

Hi guys!

You can have a fire at goldendale.(just depends on the weather) If it is to dry then no fires allowed. Joe the pics look great. For anyone thinking the course is wide open that is true, but much more difficult than most trails due to the conditions of the course. Large whoops, off camber hills etc. The 4 hour team race will be great! Also Holz racing just added $500 to the pro purse plus we are having 100% pay back. The drop offs are clearly marked along with the rest of the course. Hope to see everyone there. :D

Cool glad to hear the drop offs are marked LOL just got done looking @ the pics E-ATV put thelink up too & was glad to see a few blasters in there, thats what my son will be riding, hoping I can find some bigger rear tires by then otherwise I'll have to run my 18's & I really need some more top end!! Maybe the cam & rockers will help w/ that :D

I'm thinkin about going, and if I do I will be using my 400. I think you can have 4 bikes to a 4 man team, so I will be riding with probably a YFZ450 and a 450R, and maybe another YFZ or 250R.

I want to clarify one thing.. Each rider has 1 bike. You can not bring a bunch of quads for yourself and swap out. If the bike you start on breaks down you have to ride your team mates bike. I already asked about having bikes in the pits. I was going to Ride my 250R and then have the CRF 450 and the leager 250R as back up but I was shut down.. It makes sense, so I hope not to break down... (Yeah right). See you guys there. We are trying to work with a helicopter guy who is shooting a new ATV video who is trying to show up. That will be great!! But we will have to see. Later.

So each person can have there own bike but your only alowed one bike per person? I though it was 1 bike per team, me and my buddys didn't like the though of other people racing on our quads.:)

Did someone say helicopter?

Everyone needs to buy memberships, shirts, stickers and I hear hats might be in the future, so Exriders can get this kind of coverage......
