Help With Steering Knuckle

How do you get the balljoint bolts & arms out of the steering knuckle? ... are they pressed in?

And how should I go about putting new aftermarket arms in??

If the castle nuts spin on you when removing them from the knuckle try using a 5 or 6 inch clamp over the top of the ball joint and the end of the bolt. Dont worry about damaging the bolt as they are tapered at the end so your threads wont get burgered. As far as removing them I usually leave the nuts on the bolts so I can use it to help remove the bolt by using a bar or something and prying them away from each other. Might take some elbow grease but youll get it! Hope this helps

I usually tear the boots if i try to pry with some thing.I hit the rounded part of the spindle with a hammer while trying to pull them apart that usually knocks them loose.

so they will just pull out??
I have the cotter pins and the nuts off of the bolts ... is there anything else that Im missing??? ... or is it time to pound them out??


how do u get the new arms in? ... just pound them?

pound or like i said pry them away from each other by raising the caslte nuts to the end of the bolts

They wont just pull out, you have to pull and hit the rounded aedge on the inside.

When you put the new ones in just tighten the bolt down.

The rounded part of the spindle is where you hit it. On the inside around there the bolt goes throgh.

I am guessing this is easier when its on the quad ...

Everything is off of mine ... so can I still do it?

You can try using a piece of wood but its kind of hard holding the wood while slightly pullying it apart and swinging a hammer. A rubber mallet wouldnt leave marks. But they should pop loose in a couple swings. The spindles on there have had a-arms and balljoints changed more times then i can count and there not bad.
