well i dont know the correct forum for this soo i put it here.

Whats the best store to purchase a brand new 2004 400EX?
My local shop was rediculous. They wanted 4699 plus another 700 frieght and prep charge. I've seen 4500 out the door, but is there any other better?

i think the best thing you could do is just look in your local newspaper and find people trying to sell their used ones. last year my friend bought a new 2003 for 5100...if you would buy a used one you would be able to mod it out yourself. instead of paying the 5k for the quad and then having no money to mod it out. i bought mine for 3k and i have been able to mod it out.

Yea I agree with Dan, if you are uneasy about buying used just make up a checklist of all the things you should look over when buying the 400ex. Make sure the frame isn't cracked, nothing is missing, etc. Then ask them if you can test ride it to make sure it wrongs correct, if there seems to be something wrong with the engine like noise or just running like pure crap, ask them about it and if they can't back it up I would walk away from it. I bought my 400ex used and it ran like crap, changed the main jet when I got home and put in a new plug, runs like a champion.

As long as the quad is in good shape and was taken care of, you can't go wrong with buying used.

That's my 2 cents.

Just picked up a 2002 400ex with less than 30hrs on it for 2400. It is mint. Time to mod.

Skunk, Where are you located? Just looked at a '99 in mint condition today with 30 hrs documented and man it was nice but he was $4000 firm! He about crapped when I asked if he'd take $3900!! I am in Utah and I guess these go for more in the west??

I'm in wyoming. I've been looking for quite awhile. Just happened to glance at the paper last night and the ad was there. I'm stoked to say the least.

Well, theres a nice used one here. It looks like a barely even used 2000 400EX. The guy is married and has like 2 kids so I don't think it's been riden for a while. With a quad that's already four years old, what are some signs of wear I should look for? He is asking $3400, I'm gonna offer $3000 and work from there if it's all good.

If the tires and plastic are original and are great condition this can tell you alot about how it was taken care of.

Personally I would go with the older one and save some cash. If it's in nice condition then why not? The quad hasn't changed at all from '99 till now so it's not like you will be getting any less of a quad. Put that extra cash into some mods.

I found a deal! Somebody that lives near me had a 400EX on ebay, and is willing to trade for my RM125! He has a all stock 2002 400EX. The only thing wrong that I don't know about is he said the rear breaks pads are bad, and he blew the seal in the rear brakes? How much will that be to repair? A lot?

EX duner- Can you please IM me at TeamECCRM125 ???? thanks
