I used up the rest of my amsoil 10w40 in my new 450 r and now that my quad is broke in I want to run Maxima oil in it. I have changed oil twice so far and am wondering what weight is ok for it.can I run the 5w50 100%synthetic in my motor?The owners manual says 10w40.also how often should I change my motor oil-tranny oil?Is the crf450r oil filter the same as the trx450r filter?Any help would be great. I wish I was all knowing like all of those yamaha owners but I'm only human...Ride Red! Long live Honda!

The crf and trx 450r oil filters are the same,,,,, As far as running full synthetic,,, I myself am going to wait a while, I run synthetic only after my motors have a lot of miles on them, if you have only changed your oil twice, I imagine you still have a low mileage bike,,,, I run Honda GN4 10w40 in the engine and Honda HP trans oil 80/85w in the tranny,,,,,,, The only thing I will change for now is that I will run20/50 in the summer

what is the difference between 5w50 and 10w40?Will the 5w50 hurt my motor?
