they can fly inverted??? i dont get how they do that since the whole purpose of a helicopters blades is to force the air beneath it. more i watch it the more i believe its real. that guy needs to get a girlfriend or something lol

03-25-2004, 03:08 PM
I can do that...:o

yes with the newer radios and even some of the older ones, you have an invert switch that will reverse all the controls except the throttle. so what it's doing is changing the pitch on the main rotor so it pushes air instead of pulling.(there's alot more to it than that. I'm just keeping it simple;) ) like I said I have seen what some of these guys do with them but this guy is way over the top. I'm sure the the AMA(ACADEMY OF MODEL AERONAUTICS) would frown on what he is doing due to the safety issues involved . One little slip and both of them guys could be in bad shape real quick.

It's definitely real. My buddy at work flies RC jets and I've been to a couple of airshows and the heli guys fly upside down like that all the time. But I'm with sickmojave, I've never seen anyone fly one that good.

fun to watch, he makes it look easy. I would get more pleasure taking money, tearing it up in pieces, taking a piss on the pile. I say that because if I bought one I would crash it and be major mad.

The side spins for sure. Rapid climbs and desends and the auto-rotation.

The inverted stuff no way! To hard on the clutches.

I fly rc helicopters too (xcell and raptor) and i tell ya, what that guys is doing is unbveliveable hard. only one other person can do that as far as i know and that is Curtis YOungblood.
I learned to inverted hoever rolls loops and nose in hover on a heli simulator. worth every penny.

03-26-2004, 09:31 AM
thats probabvyl all he does is play on the simulator...I know they really work

i used t also but when i go fly the real thing like my xcell id sh%t in pants anyway. something unnerving about seeing a $1500 toy flying upside down 5 feet of the ground.

Our unit fly's 24x7 weather permitting. Each bird goes up for a 2 hour mission, than down for 2 hours for fuel etc. While another goes back up to cover.

A typical pilot can log 6 hours a night as PIC working 4x 10 hour shifts.

03-26-2004, 01:44 PM
Popo do you fly the birds or just ride shotgun and spit on cars:confused:

Up in Cleveland we call em "Ghetto Birds"

How do they get'em out of the hangar? shouldn't they be on a dolley?

That R/C chopper is amazing, I found myself wanting to see it fly normally at the end of the video though:confused:

Yes we have drop dollies that attach to the skids that raise them up about six inches to tug them out side.

Rico, no shot gun, spitting out the open door fly's right back at you. Learned that a few times chewing.

Columbus, Ohio. Yes the floors are pretty nice. At $12.00 a sq yard to paint them they should be.

JT, It always rains on clear sunny days. :D

LT.
- The collective is a helicopter's primary altitude and power control. Pull up increase's the climb, push down you go down.

- The cyclic controls the helicopter's pitch and bank attitude, forward and reverse actions, and turns.
