This is my first quad, and i'm very much a newb.
Being that this is used and I don't know how well the previous owner cared for it, what should I do to it now??

So far I've:
- cleaned the air filter
- changed the oil and oil filter
- Oiled the chain

What else can I do to help ensure this stays running for a long time? Are there any places I should grease on the 300ex? I read that the bearing on the 300ex are sealed. Does that mean there are no grease fittings anywhere?

Anyway, thanks for your help and sorry for being a newb.

You could adjust your valves. Do a THUROUGH search over the whole bike, check the frame for cracks. When you ride it, listen and feel for anything out of the ordinary. If your valves need adjusting, you'll hear a ratteling/clicking coming from the engine.

Clean the carb, get it a tune up. check all the berings. Push the tire sideways, and if the rim is shaking then the berings need to be replaced soon. To check the axel bering jus wiggle the axel back and forth. Bearings wear really eaasilly especialy in mud.
