Its a swamp water buffalo... hit the scales at 2900lbs. Later he found out its the 2nd largest killed with a muzzle loader in the world. Should be in the books soon...

after hearing his story, they are some MEAN SOB's! He damn near got killed when it played dead then charged after him... took 5 "kill zone" shots ...4 from a 100 yards away and the last one 10 yards away with his .50 cal inline!

down in FL actually.... he went to a hunting reserve that has a few on there.... the entire place is over 12,000 acres of swap, fields and wooded areas. He said it was crazy.... first time in his life he felt like he was being hunted. The guys with him said they've never seen anything happen like that before because most guys use rifles and are 300-400 yards away...and stay that far until they are SURE its dead. In my dads case, he had to be around 100 yards with his muzzle loader...

My mom also go an Axis deer which is becoming pretty common for some parts in florida... they are re-producing at HUGE rates and going all over the place.

His retirement trip is going to be over in africa... should be interesting!

What's next? A head mount? I don't know, but can you eat water buffalo? That will be some good eating for quite some time. Dayum...and with a muzzleloader too. Wow.:macho

I guess they are really good eatin... so we've heard. We should have 700lbs or so coming real soon... I"ll let ya know.

I do know that the Axis deer is the best meat I've ever had in my life. Zero fat but very juicy...

Maybe I"ll bring some buffalo to the H/M ride in july if I can go...
