250R's are some great bikes, but you have to realize they are old. So just from looking you able able to tell if its been completely ragged. But look at the left case and make sure its not busted and leaking everywhere. Check all the bushing and bearings, shake the front end and rear end. You can put a lot of money in bearings, bushings, and seals. So if you can find one that doesn't need them that a big plus. The 250r frame was good but it cracks the same as all other ATVs, so check for cracks. I have seen a few cracked by the foot pegs. ALso any aftermarket parts it may have will be a plus. If it looks good and runs good I would get it, I love my 250R and am very happy I got it. I'm not even interested in the 450's at the time, long live the 250R!!

They're all liquid cooled. ALL years are good, but 88-89 seem to be the preference, mainly due to the frame geometry(location of a-arms and swingarm). But like I said, all years are awesome!:D
