Just got a head and the exhaust ports and combustion chamber are black. what is the best way to clean it up?

Hmm if you dont have a parts washer i just use whatever i can find. Maybe if it's real grity use a flathead screwdriver and a knife. Or if its just light soil i would use a stiff bristle and maybe some kerosene or oven cleaner. Your best bet is to spray on some overn cleaner and come back in a little while and use a toothbrush (i always steal moms, don't tell her hehe)

I used wd40 and steel wool then a wet rag, then i used some compressed air to blow it out.

I used a dremel with a light sanding/polishing wheel. They came 2 in a pack, and it leaves a nice finish, without hurting anything. Plus, polished exhuast ports and combustion chambers aren't a bad thing to have.

hmm, i was thinking maybe you could spray something on it and let it soak then wipe it off, but i don't know what you would use. maybe like carb cleaner? anyway, i will look today for those dremmel bits. i saw somewhere they make little flapper bits that polish nicely! but i need to get the main caked on stuff off first.

Don't use anything sharp. Even light scratches can damage the valve seats. Use a soft wire brush or toothbrush. Approach with caution!! :eek2:
