I just got done building my motor, I have a JE 11:1 416 Piston kit, ported and polished, stage 2 hotcam, fat boy 4 exhaust and i have the jetting set with a 45 pilot and a 185 main and my pipes seem to be glowing red slightly when I am idleing and runing slow. I think I need a bigger Pilot jet or something becuase it runs fine and without the pipes getting hot when you are running in the higher throttle positions. What is everyone else running? Any advice whould be great.

did you get a new needle jet.. If this is doing this at idle then i would look into your pilot jet. Try going to 48 or something. Just remember things run hot when they are lean (too much air not enough fuel) and colder when they are rich (too much fuel not enough air).......... Lean is fast but it will kick your *** (i made that up myself) anyways lean will toast your rings and rich just maybe fouls a plug or too....

hope this helps

BUILDING A 416 MYSELF ANY HELPFUL TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRIECIATED.

45 pilot is plenty in my opinion. i would set the fuel skrew at about 2 turns out with that pilot in. also, lower your mainjet some. that will help out on power. i would go down to a 165 at most if your running the stock carb with those mods. if they are glowing when idleing, you will need to turn the fuel skrew out a tad bit at a time. if they glow when giving it a little throttle, raise your needle one position (move clip down one position). the stock position is 3. go to the 4th.

by the way, they better not glow at higher throttle positions with that size of a mainjet in. :eek2:
