Picked up new timing chain for bike. Has anyone heard about any problems with the 300 timing chain jumping teeth? Should I check the tensioner and what should I look for? The timing chain wasn't cheap $101.00

Yes it is a common problem, my 300ex has had its timing chain replaced. And I am working on a 300ex right now that threw the timing chain. I think they just wear out, because after I put a new one in I haven't had a problem since.

Also if you ever need to buy another timing chain, get a DID. They are only 50-55 bucks on ebay.

yeah, i would probably get an aftermarket one if they make them. they may also make heavy duty ones. make sure your cam sprocket is in great shape or replace it while your at it.

I haven't had any problems w/ mine at all!! WE did the piston in Oct. & checked it out(I did buy a new one & sprocket) but didn't put the new one in, still have it for the next time we tear it down, we did put the new slider in though. I would check your sprocket to make sure it has good teeth! AND Holly Moley where did you buy one for THAT price :eek2: :eek2: I KNOW mine was WAY cheaper can't remember right off hand but I got it @ a dealer hmmm I'd be checking that price again:huh
