125s wont be that great for trails, they are boggy in low end and you always gotta be on it and in the power band unless you are good at clutch, i am fine with my bike or a 125 but i wouldnt recomend it to you going from a 250ex. My 250 is decent but my first gear is really high and fast so im on the clutch alot with that also. I would reccomend a 4 stroke CC? depending on weight and height. Maybe a crf250?

the 2 stroker bikes (125-250) can be made nice trail bikes actually...with a low end pipe and a lightened flywheel and some nice soft seat foam they can be made nice

www.dirtrider.net ask over there personally id reccomend a crf250 if price isnt a problem, but if your on a budget then a xr250 would suit you fine

I miss my old TTR250, was a '00. Was a great trail bike. Not the badest machine around, but would get the job done & was very trustworthy. Ended up trading it for a '92 banshee that I rebuilt & traded it off for an '01 EX.:D
Sorry for the big pic... :blah:

I've spent most of my life on bikes
I have to go with the KDX 200 or 220 for a 2-stroke
and its hands down XR400 for a 4-stroke

XR 400, they are difficult to start, but you get the hang of it. Tons of power, its a little heavy im only 150 lbs. but once u get goin fast its a fun bike. Lots of power :D

any non-puresport 4-stroke.

check out KTM's bikes, they are great for trails. The XR's are good too. I'd get an XR650

xr's are great bikes and they run forever, ktms are too expensive to fix

the XR650 is the best non-MX bike in the world in my opinion. it's never ever lost a Baja run be it a 1000 mile, 500 mile or even 250. The Honda site has all the info. XR's virtually never break down and have very simple maintenance.

XR400 or XR650 I say. The 400 you will grow out of when you wanna start goin' faster and harder. The 650 will always be one step ahead ;)

I mean the best you'll find out of Yamaha or Suzuki / Kawi is like thr DRZ or WR bikes which are just altered versions of motocross bikes. Neither as tough as an XR.

XR's are purpose built. I think they are a strong factor in why Honda is synonymous with reliability.

Look at the 400EX which is modeled after the XR400. It's the most durable quad there is.
