ya it is and isn't. if you got time and money it is.you need to get a power roll exhaust system. their 485. and you will need to cut the motor but they fit right in then.

motoman,

It is well worth the time. I did this conversion last summer and it has to be best thing u can do to a 250x in terms of power. I got lucky and bought a motor and exhaust from a friend of mine that did this conversion once, then took it out. The motor fits right in after you cut about 2 or so inches off the top rear motor mount on the left side. The oil cooler is real easy to mount with some flexible hose. I mounted it in front of my steering stem and behind my frame by welding a tab to the frame. You also have extend the stock air tube so it reaches the carb. The exhaust might be tricky if you dont buy a kit. I didnt have to buy the kit because I had the header from the previous owner. If you know a good exhaust guy he could probably build one for you. I also had to "massage" the frame a little bit so the oil delivery line to the valvetrain would fit. Just used a torch and a BFH (Big F*cking Hammer). Another good modification you can do is put 250R/400ex shocks and a-arms on it. This helps with handling tremendously. If you have any questions I would love to help you out, just email me at regulator250x@hotmail.com... Go for it and get 'er done!

I did a conversion to my 89 250R and it outperforms my 400EX easy. As others have said, it is alot of work (at least in the R) but well worth it.

The 350X motor is a very reliable and easily upgraded motor. Also has the 6 speed vs the 400 or 250x's 5 speed. ;)

I hear they make good power and get up and move in the 250x frame.

I rode a 350X for 10 years in nothing but sand dunes. It was the strongest (for its size) and most reliable sport atv engine I have ever owned. And I know of 2 guys that did this conversion, and absolutely love it. They have the power for the dunes, and smaller size for the trails. Good luck!:p

When I was reading your responses I am now amped. I have a 93 motor for my quad in EXCELLENT CONDITION! If those 350Xs have reverse I would probably do the swap.. If not. Forget about it

yeah but for the power difference its almost worth not having reverse.

Who the $%&#@ needs reverse? You just crank the bars tight one way, and peg the throttle. Trust me, you'll be going the opposite direction. (can be done at any speed):blah:

My kinda rider. That's how reverse has always been with me unless of course I am stuck in mud :)

Dont forget to throw in a 372 stoker kit on it. That motor rips with that kit
