For those of you that have the 416 kits may want to consider a 39mm FCR carb. I did not realize how much performance it added untill I put a stock carb on mine for a day. All I can say is the stock carb was a dog normally with the 39mm fcr I can be lugging up a hill in 3rd or 4th and mash the gas and I am gone no problem no down shifting. I tried that with the stock carb what a joke all it did was bog and I was forced to down shift.
Needless to say I have a lot more fun riding with the FCR.

I just though I would share my experience.

I just puy my FCR on my stock 400 & you can tell a difference with the stock motor. I should be putting in my 416 kit next week so I will get the full benifit of the FCR.

hmmm. Sounds good.

How much would that cost with a thumb throttle cable.

Have you ever used a 38mm Lectron? Compared to the FCR?

I just put a 39 fcr on my bike and I was very impressed. I was beating piped banshee's and 450's up the dunes all day long.

How does the Edelbrock compare to the FCR?

I'm talking about ease of installation and power increases throughout the torque band.

Which one gives the best bottom end? Mid?

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Just thought this would be a good place to discuss it since Silverfox said he was thinking about the edelbrock.

i don't know much about aftermarket carbs, and it might be a stupid question, but do they have chokes??

I just sold mine to Cals400ex. He is going to be one happy guy once he gets this on, it helped alot of my brothers stock motor and made my 426 come to life, Ive seen jetted stock carbs vs FCR39mm and the 39MM will get about 2-3 lenghts ahead in a 100 yard sand drag...

yeah, i will let you know how it works when i get it in. i have seen some of the used fcr's still go for a pretty penny. i was going to order one from C&D (which i still highly recommend) but pnut cut me a snazzy deal and i couldn't resist to pass up the offer. thanks cal

Just curious as to how ANY other carb compares to the FCR's. Which is best for the money?

i don't have any hands on experience with these but this is what i read:

the lectrons can make great power, even greater than the fcr's in some situations. however, they require frequent maintenance with cleaning and rejetting so the bike runs to its potential. if you like to tinker a lot, this could be an option. i like to tinker, but i dont' know how much i will have to be doing this. i don't want it to be a weekly routine.

i guess the edelbrocks don't have jets like most other carbs. i have talked to people who liked these carbs. i don't know the power differences though. one complant is a hard to push throttle that can stick here and there.

others can chime in now since i don't know too much. :p
