300ex vs sportsman 500 ho

Ugh it happened yet again, my friends bone stock sportsman 500ho beat my 300ex repeatedly!
My ex has exhaust k&n and has been jetted, is there any earthly reason why he should be able to pass me like im sitting still??
Any help would be appreciated!

bigger tires and the engine size....couldnt think of any other reason

its the fact that the spertsman is up 220 cc's on ya, and the automatic trany. I raced my stock 300ex against a friends sportsman 400 and he won. although at the time my clutch was slippin, and the axel bering was almost shot. Although i could tell that even if nothing was wrong with my 300 i would have still lost.
Those sportsmans have some go. Some of my friends got the 500's, and I know they go farter than 300ex's. I comes down to engine size.

On several rides I have seen these 500 tricked out and just smoke tons of quads.:(
