I dont know if anyone remembers but I said I was getting a 1973 ford f-150 for 500. well It turns out it was a 1977 with a 400 and a 4-speed. It has a 4in or so suspension lift. Its got new 33' tires and crome rims and new shocks and springs up front and 3/4 ton springs in the rear. It sat in my dads friends car lot for 7 years and he didnt know much about it he just said my dad could have it for 500. well he brang it over here and we put some gas in the carb and it started wright up and runs good and sounds good (turbo muffler's) im 14 but bought this with my own money that me and my dad are going to fix up and do some body work and a free custom paint job from my dad's friend. does any one else have one of these. what was your guy's first car?

my dad used to have a 79 like that..they are awesome trucks..i would like to get one and put about a 12" lift on it..i got my first truck bout a month ago..96' z-71 ex. cab, true dual flowmasters, 3" body lift. 33"s..eagle alloy rims, loaded(leather,power,etc..)..i got it for $4500..it needs about $500 worth of body work but it looks and runs good..sucks the gas though..bout 12 miles to the gallon..it'll be alot worse after i put a suspension lift under it

ya I heard these 400's are gas hogs too. but i've always thought they were cool trucks. i might put a 78 or 79 grill in with the spuare headlights. I need to do lots of bodywork but my dad is good at that. he restores cars. my dad work's at kenworth sales and is a deisel mechanic and just had his thumb took off to the nuckle. But his friend is a painter down there and does custom paintjobs and I want to paint it viper red with flames. we had a 67 mustang that was that color. I can pick between all the kenworth color's for free.

expect about 9 miles to the gallon. The 400 were made for more of a torque motor if I remember right. Looks good!! i always like the older trucks

You remember right! The 400's have a weak bottom end that does not like high rpm's. Don't wind it out to tight and it will last a long time.

Sounds like you got a great deal to me.

isn't it an awesome feeling to buy a vehicle with your own money? after saving for over a year i bought my first truck (95 dodge dakota ext. cab 4x4 w\custom 2-tone paint, roll bar\ lights, and visor) for $4,000. i'll be 16 in just under 2 weeks. its cool to know that i bought it, its mine, and i can do what i want with it.

I really dont know how much it gets but its not a hybrid :blah: Id say around 13 mpg. It really depends on how u drive it. Like me i spin the tires in gravel and crap and gun it alot so i dont get very good gas mileage but its sure a fun truck. The only thing i dont like is the dual headlights.

My first car was a 74 Nova SS that ran 12's! Bought it for 1200 bucks in primer, never finished it but spent a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$ on it over a few years time. Sold it and a bunch of parts for a little over 2k I think, I don't remember. I used that money on quad stuff and to help pay for the Blaze

Multiple panels and gets real exspensive fast. Generally when you think it's $500 is usually closer to $1500.

That is a good looking F150. I had a 79 F150 with a 6 foot bed, 35" tires, 400, and a 4 speed. That truck took a beating, and then some!
