How do you mix your gas? My brother just got a RM85, and he doesn't know how much oil to mix with his gas. How much do you all use, and how do you measure it? And does it really matter whether you use regular gas or premium? If it makes a difference, then he will buy premium. Thanks.

Also, what kind of 2 cycle oil do you use? Or does it really matter?

Any good 2 stroke oil will be fine, you should probably run premium too...

Oil mixing...it varies, I think kind of a standard mixture is 32:1, meaning 32 parts gas, to 1 part oil. I've run 50:1 in some my 2 strokes without any probs, but that is kind of lean, you may find yourself changing the rings or piston a little quicker.

Use the below link to figure out how much oil to how much gas....

i have always mixed 32:1 in my kx. it smokes a little more than it should but i never foul plugs. the way i look at it is its alot cheaper to buy a new plug than a whole new top end. I have always had good luck with Klotz. It seems like it runs through alot better and you cant beat the smell. Also. fo mixing go to any motorcyle or 4 wheeler dealer and you can buy a cup that has a chart on the side and you just fill to the line of mixture you want and find out how mant gallong you want and just match it all up. To me thats alot more simple and precice.

I run maxima castor 927 in my R, I've had good luck with it. I run it at 32-1, so I buy the 16ox bottles and mix it with 4 gallons of gas. Its pretty easy to do it this way and you don't need a measuring cup.

I had an RM85 and I always ran 32:1 with motul 800 oil. Can't go wrong there.

i run 32:1 amsoil synthetic in my R with no problems, pulled the piston out a few days ago, and i seized it last year when it overheated cause a radiator hose came off, piston and rings were fine, and the walls of the cly were worn like normal, just honed it and re-ringed it and its back

If you're using Amsoil Racing 2 Stroke Oil ( Series 2000 or Dominator ), 50:1 is what these oils have been tested and proven to be at their best. Any richer on the oil will cause the engine to operate hotter. Also, Amsoil has a written warranty that will cover your engine should you experience failure and the failure is a direct result of the oil.

i work at a Suzuki shop, and the RM's and pretty much all modern two stroke dirtbikes are reccomended to run 32:1. i run 31:1 on my blaster after a pipe and jet. stock i ran 40:1 and it ran much better. your mix ratio really depends on a few things. jetting, quality of oil used, grade of gas, and how often you want to re-ring or rebuild your topend.
