in a 416 or 426? besides what comes in the kit.. is there any machine work that needs to be done? how much to have everything, including one of the kits, to have the motor back together and running?

It's kinda funny to me how so many things are referred to as a "kit". That implies that it's all inclusive and you just bolt it on. Sorry, just ranting a little there.

1) You need to buy a 87mm (416) or a 88mm(426) piston. Most of them will come with rings, wrist pin and clips.
2) Then you will need a base gasket, head gasket and possibly a valve cover gasket(only if it gets screwed up taking it off).
3) You need to take your new piston and cylinder to a competent machine shop to have them bore the cylinder to the appropriate size to match the piston.
4) Put it back together.

There is an entire other game plan about the base and head gaskets but I'm keeping this one simple as to not muddy up the waters.
