Id love to see a few classes for the Mini Quads added to the Gncc series. They could run them after the quads on saturday with the youth bikes.

Anyone agree?

I think a mini GNCC class is exactly what RP needs to add to their TO-DO list..

03-17-2004, 08:43 AM
i agree they need to have a race for them. acoording how the turn out is either let them run the same time as the small bikes. OR 14 races! have 7 of them have mini quads while the other 7 have mini bikes!!!!!

Definetely would love to see that. The youngin's are the sports future....There used to be a youth ATV class years ago that ran with the women early in the morning, not sure why it stopped.

Right on! I used to get a real kick out of watching little William Yokley and little Johnny C going at it. :p

It would be a great way to get younger kids into the sport! And really allow the parents to understand why the kids want to race!

they had a youth class they started again back in 1997 i ran along with 3 other kids that where always there the never really had a good turnout thats why they stopped brian holbert used to race and we seem to belive the only reason why they had started it again in 1997 was because his pap jack holbert had something to do with it so his son could race

I thought you were asking to add another section to our website.:D I was getting ready to let you have it.

But hell ya, they should have classes for the little ones, not only is that going to be more money for RP, but it's going to develop talent for years to come.

The best way to make sure a sport survives, is to continually develop talent, sounds like a great idea.

I've been looking for a place for my boys to race the last couple of days or weeks... prolly years, but I really don't have any desire for them to do mx because they are too far away and they don't get to practice. On a GNCC or XC, if you can ride in the woods, you can ride in a race... no practice, because nobody gets to see the track till race time anyway...

I found this link this morning and it shows youth races at the GNCC at certain locations.... check them out: http://www.atvaonline.com/race/gncc.asp

When they say "youth" are they talking "bikes" or "quads"? The Spartan is a 7 hour drive for me, but I think I would do it if MadMatt300ex could race in a XC. However, I don't think the AMA rules allow for youth races on quads! :grr:

:grr: I was afraid of that, I went to the gnccracing site and found out whats up.... The kid bikes are racing at 4 on Saturday! The CPSC sucks!

Is that some of steven holberts family????
Is it true that he won the Blackwater back when they still ran it?? What kinda quad did he run it on??

There wasnt enough intrest in the youth quads is why they stopped. I bet if they could get say 10 or so kids at every race they would do it ....Someone should contact RP and ask them what it would take .
Yea that is Stevie Holberts family . He did win Blackwater twice if I rememeber right , The first time was I think on a 250X and the second time on a 250R.

i think its areal good idea and i had a blast thats how i got started but they have been apprached about it and i dont think they feel there will be a good turnout plus that means more work for them if enough people keep bugging them im sure they will

My son is wanting to race bad. He is 12 and rides a 250ex.
We went to Texas, and plan on going to at least 2 others this year.
Kansas is a long drive to most of the GNCC races, but boy they are worth it.
The only problem I could see would be track selection. I dont think my son could make a few of the hills we see.
Just makes more work for the promoters.
I would sure like to see it added though.

I with you 5valves, I wouldn't want either of my sons taking on more than they could handle.... and my oldest is a pretty good rider. Surely the youth bike races have an easier course.

:) The Missouri series run min quads at a selected events. It is a true yoiuth classes. They run bikes and quads ussually on a mod ttrack that is about 1 to 2 miles long and they let the parents or friends chase the kids. the kids range in age from 5 to 13 years old. They ride by age and atv or bike classes.

Thats the only place that MadMatt300ex has ever gotten to race. It was at the Flat River Gran Prix.

I'd like to see them start GNCC for kids. My son and daughter both would love to race. It also might get the manufacturers to step up the quality of the mini's. I'd like to see tricked out 90's with dual a arms and disk brakes from the manufacturer. I really enjoy watching my kids ride and to watch them race would be awesome.

Do you happen to know which races are held closest to Ohio?

I definitly agree with this! Im sure there are tons of kids out there that will be willing to show up and race!

RP would be making money on this if they decided to do this...... But I have no idea why it has not been done yet  .

Like it was said earlier in this thread . When they tried it before there would be 3 kids out there so it wasnt worth it to them . Call RP and talk to them . I am sure they will answer all questions....

Well it definitly needs to grow. If they kept it going for longer, they may of had more kids racing the events.

I have even mentioned that I would help in anyway that I could with the youth ATV Races. I told RP several times I would donate time and money to help things get started. We need to combine our efforts, thoughts, and man-power, and let RP know we stand behind our intentions. Count us in!!!!!!!!!!!

They chould have Quad race for them thay are the sport so ya i would go and run them with the mine bikes. The GNCC has grown so mach that i think it would go over verry good. That would be a good class for Markk and 300racer.

after speaking about this subject with some gncc riders and others that remeber when there was a mini class, they feel it could be done again. one reason it was stopped as mentioned was due to there being one mini....the LT80. now there are many and they are being raced!!

Hetricks is behind this idea so maybe if the idea keeps rolling and gets bigger RP will consider it

With as much as GNCC and XC racing is a family event I think it would be good to let the younger ones race a mini coarse. Lil has followed me around to all the races and pitted for me, it would be fun if she could also be able to have fun too. Besides it would give her a reason to be tired and sleep all the way home:blah:

My son turns 5 in 2 months and he said hes ready to race.
The only thing that sucks is the only racing he can do on a quad in Florida is mini dirtbikes.
I really dont want him on 2 wheels.

I would help out with whatever was necessary.

Here in Illinois my son races quads in the district harescrambles.

I think the main problem is when would they run them. As it is now, they start the morning race at 10, afternoon race at 1 and kids bikes at 4. Thats a pretty full schedule already.

bradley300
03-24-2004, 10:45 AM
when did they used to run them?

and i think they should run, but only in thier own race, i dont know much about mini's, but i dont see any mini on the market thats gonna stand a chance against a 85cc mx bike, not to mention adding the wieght of a way too heavy 15 yr. old on a trx 90.

one thing i do see as a possibility would be a 13-15 yr. old class that can run w/ the bikes with simlar rules on riders and thier machines as at the gnc's

cdalejef
03-24-2004, 11:42 AM
They ran them in the morning when there used to not be a morning race.

as of now the mini bikes only race 9 races a year. My suggestion is to cut them back to 7 races a year and let the quads run 7 races a year. the quads can run at the same time the bikes would have ran.

mmills023
03-24-2004, 12:43 PM
ya know that is not a bad idea!!

7 races each...

I have never stayed to watch the mini's run...but i assume they are not talking about xr50's??

i realy think that the mini quads should be brought back my 10 year old hates it that he cant race somewhere he used to watch the kids race when he was way to little to race and has always wanted to try it but they would have to make it true kids racing not 10 - 11 - 12 year olds on big quads not that these same kids cant ride a big quad but it is a safty thing all the quads should be about the same size just my 2 cents
