i have decided to sell my 300ex and get something bigger.

i will have about 3000 to spend and i'm trying to decide on a bike i have pretty much narrowed it down to a banshee or a 400ex what route would you go ?

i love 2 stroke's but hate kick starts and rebuilds (and since banshee is a twin piston that means twice the parts), i really would like to get a 250r but good luck getting a decent one for under 5000

You can get a really nice 250R for around 3K now days, guranteed!....but yeah, you're asking a biased question, just about everyone on here will say stick with HOnda.

I would go with a 250R, I love mine. With the new 450's out the price of them are coming down. I agree with sly you can find a great one for around 3k. If you can't find a R you want, I think the 400ex would be a great choice. I guess it depends on what kind of riding you are gonna be doing. The banshee wouldn't be too good of a choice for trail riding. But if you are in the dunes or drag racing it would be a good one to go with. I would say for everyday riding the 400ex or the R would be the way to go.

I love the blast of power from the Banshee, but if I was gonna spend my $$$, I'd get the Honda. They definitely out- handle the 'Shee in the tight stuff, and you can easily get them to run with the average Banshees. And it is quite a bit less to rebuild the single cylinder. (about half!)

Well it really depends on what you want to do, and what you want to spend your money on if (when) you decide to mod it. If you don't race mx, or ride in tight trails all the time, a banshee would probably be more fun. A 250r will definately handle better than a banshee though, and it should have an easier to ride powerband. If you like to go fast and want to beat everyone in a drag race then its no contest, the banshee has much more potential hp.

As far as kick start goes, the banshee is the easiest engine to kick I have ever found. I can turn the engine over with my fingers easily. 250R isn't hard to kick either. As far as rebuilds go, take care of your engine and you won't have to do it. That goes for 2 or 4 stroke.
