Hey I changed my front brakes but the new ones didn't have shims on them.. i was just wondering if i need to take the stock shims off and then put them on the new brake pads
any imput is appreciated
james
i always do it with mine...I dont know if its necessary but it makes me feel better
I didn't put the shim on the rear of mine and the pads wore uneven, one was worn more than the other and also at an angle. I switched the pads around (without the shim) to get a bit more life out of them. It seemed to work.
I will put the shim back in when I replace the pads again which will be very soon. Hope I can find it:eek: :p

I usually forget to put mine back in, the only time I've had pads wear uneven is when the pads cant slide on the 2 holder bolts because there was corrosion there
