Your clutch could be slipping, or youre not a very good drag racer. A pipe doesnt make that big of a difference dude.

its not the clutch slipping i know and i havet tried adjusting the throttle... but i let 2 other people who all they do is drag and same results... I mean... the bike just feel weak compared to others... i mean dont get me wrongs it still comes up0 east and all but its not like the others. its like it takes forever to get to the top or 3rd and 4th gear..... i mean were not draggind just in the 1/8th. were going all the way through the gears

adjust the throttle cable. there should only be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch slack in the throttle lever. your mainjet sounds good. adjust valves too.

Does it feel sluggish off the line? Did you rejet it with the yoshi exhaust? If your not jetted right you won't be getting much power out of your full exhaust or a slip on. I would check that first. what jetting are you running?

what year is that 400ex? You may need a top end rebuild. If your rings are shot it will make a huge difference in power to replace them. Does it smoke at all?

no it doesnt smoke at all like i said its really in good condition its a 2001.... and i got it with hardley any hours on it i knew te gyuy that had it personally, he never rode it... its not really sluggish off the line its when going through the gears it takes like forever to get to the top of 3rd and 4th...

Your jetting may be too rich. Thats what it sounds like if it takes forever to top out 3rd & 4th. The Yoshi full exhaust may be too free flowing for a stock/mild bike.

Adjusting the valves is easy http://www.exriders.com/techarticles/valves.html

Don't give all your money to a dealer! Spend $50 1 time and buy you a Honda service manual. It's the best part you'll ever buy. Valve adjustment takes no more than twenty minutes. All you need is simple mechanical ability, 24mm socket for valve caps, 10mm wrench, small flathead screwdriver, feeler gauge, and some patience and you can do them from now on. You could have a valve problem if they haven't been adjusted in a while. Valve cupping is a common problem with the ex. When you do adjust them, there should not be enough gap in the rockers to turn the adj. screw more than a half a turn. If you turn more than that, you got yerself a valve prob. Could also lose power if valves are tight. Tight valves = low compression b/c valves are not fully seating.
