Well I"m in the middle of repacking my FMF powercore IV/2 right now,,,and it has 4 allen head bolts that you remove and it's supposed to just slid right out,,,negative,,I had to use a rubber mallet and beat the thing apart,,it sounds like your on the right track,,I don't think there really supposed to just pull apart with ease,,,I suggest you call LRD before you mess up your nice pipe. I called FMF on mine just to make sure I did take it apart the right way,,cuz I had to man handle the dang thing loose...good luck.

Don't cut the pipe. Just e-mail or call LRD and ask them to give you directions on how to repack the silencer.

When do you know you need to repack?

I believe it's something that should be done annually. I know mines gotten water in it from washing it,,along with god knows what else,,plus it sounds different than it did when it was new...heck packing material only cost like $8,,having a properly maintanced muffler is supposed to be good for the motor also..from what I've read,,a exhaust that's in need of repacking also robs power..

U should repack after 10-15 hours.

I agree with Rico though, once or twice a year is ok i guess, or repack whenever your pipe is empty.  :huh
