The next class off was the Open B class.
Unfortunatley, there was a wreck and one rider (who is a member of this site) I believe his name was Blake took a hard shot. They stopped us about a mile into the race and sent us back to the starting area. After a few minutes he was up and walking fine, lets hope he alright!

We all lined up again and restarted. Of course this time my battery was dead so it took a lil while.

Heres the Open B class start

I've got more pics to post tonight.. mostly pics of the quads in the pits before the race.

I need to thank my wife for the pics!!It was the first time we've tried a race report for the site so we weren't sure how they'd turn out. Its hard to judge the timing when using a dig. camera. Its even harder when she's got pit duty (goggles and fuel) and a 2 year old to keep safe!! Unfortunatly she will not be at all the D6 event this year, most of them I'll be flying solo. I'll need to rely on people getting the pics for me.. I know I can get some great shots but I just can't give up being out on the track myself.

I know a few others got some pics, maybe they'll post theres!!!DERNO???:grr:

Haah was Ron racing?? Ron was your buddy that sat with ous at the table racing this time?? And jason what place did you finish? Hey Ron any chance i can run your z-400 at the next race:devil:

cdrookie

ron(derno) and myself raced the open c class. it was my first race. we rode hard at tower city the day before and that kind of took it's toll on us. i started dead last out of 26-27 riders and finished 7th on my cannondale, and ron got a 20th place start and finished 10th on his z. we got pics and stories over on cannondale riders.com under cannondale racing.

i have to thank him for letting me past on the 3rd lap. he could've made real hard on me, but instead waved me by. some people need to realize when to let others by. there's a lot of traffic out there and many people aren't even in your class so why would you want to hold them up? i'm just a c class rider but i know when someones faster than me. just a little venting... overall i had a blast and can't wait till this weekend!

Yeah ill be at the next race, Pa series number one i racesd and ran out of gas in the second to last turn of the last lap causing me to lose 8 positions and finish 11th when i could have had an easy 3rd place finish. Now my quad has new a-arms, porting, and some other work soo i think ill be very competitive in running in the top positons. Ron and rookie good job with the race alound with jason and all other exriders that participated in the race. In the pa series round 1 alot of riders didnot even finish or ran into flaws after a few laps with the 20 degree weather and frozen track.

Yeah it was a tough run out there on sunday. not from the standpoint of the course, but the people riding out there no one was giving an inch. you would think there was money in the c class.

Check out this kid getting the tree and having it from guys not even running in his class

Derno24
03-15-2004, 09:42 PM
I wasn't quite sure as to why the c class started in the next to last position. behind the auto sport class and polaris class. I thought that really sucked. It made it even harder ofr us to pass early in the race.

here is a shot of the crowded jump section.

Track conditions were decent even though that last photo was dusty. It wasn't too bad, but I have been there when it was alot worse.

Here is a pic of me following cdrookie through this turn halfway through the 3rd lap.

I had a good time. I just wish people would allow you to pass without fighting for spots early in the race. Trust me if you are good you can catch up and pass later.

Here is a shot of the big hill. man does that thing worry me in the beginning when everyone is still tight. i get afraid of the guy behind me coming in to hot and plowing into you at the bottom.

hey i'm in that pic....im on the yellow ex with blue jersey and pants... i also thought it was stupid for us to start that far back...a real pain trying to get around everyone. I wrecked on the second lap trying to pass a z400 and i got tangled with a utility quad that was in front of him. Me and my buddy raced this race along with the last one and in the last one he got a bad start and wrecked and ended up 16th and i ended up 8th....and this race i got a bad start and wrecked and ended up 16th and he ended up 8th. lol I met derno when they we're giving trophey's out, nice meeting you man. It is cool me and my friend racing together cuz we're about the same skill level and i think as the season goes on we'll keep pushing each other to do better. I just hope we can have a race sometime this season where i can see him on the track...so far he was either so far behind me or so far in front of me we couldn't see each other.

Yeah it was cool to have met you guys. Cdrookie and I had a great lap together running pretty good till we ran into this guy on a raptor who just wouldn't get out of the way. CD got by and I got stuck behind him for about 1/2 a lap. It is alot more fun out there when you know the other guys out there. At one point late in the race JLHughes caught up to me and I let him by. Only to get a real friendly wave and a laugh. then I had to tail him for a while figuring to mess with him, but that never materialized.

One of the blaster class guys pounding the mud hole. You had 2 choices there head for the hill and what looked like less water or take the water and not have to worry about the tree at the top of the hill.

He chose the water.

My wife will not be going to all of the events this year.

I will soon(hopefully) find someones friend or Dad that will be there every race, and won't mind snapping some shots and emailing them to me. If i get a few people I'll sort through the pics and post them here with a report. This also helps with my report for the paper.;)

I love the layout of the MX track there... I have raced it at a couple of D-6 races but man... they do need to sift out some of them rocks... it hurts especially on the faster sections of the track when someone in front kicks them up at you... I got hit right in the tip of my manhood... if you know what I mean.

400exvet
03-16-2004, 10:47 AM
Thanks to your wives for the pics....especially Jason's due to watching the little one and taking pics. I had a terrible race. I got a decent holeshot on the first start and then that guy crashed right in front of me. I saw the whole thing and felt bad when I went around it. I felt like I should have stopped or something...I can't believe he got up and walked away! He must be one bad, in shape dude! I hope he is O.K. Anyway, on the second start I was 6th, moved up to 5th and towards the end of the first lap, that ditch in the straightaway after the mudhole, got me sideways and into that big tire on the left by the building. I somehow stayed on the quad....the two big bruises on the fronts of my thighs are proof! Needless to say, I had to pit to straighten out the left tie rod because the bike didn't know which way to go when the right tire was straight and the left one was locked all the way to the left. Once I got that halfway fixed I was on my way...well behind the entire field. I worked my way through some of the field and ended up upside down when a big green utility cut me off and drove me into the bank after I squeezed under him in a turn. I finally got shiny side up and ended up 16th in the B class. My buddy got 3rd in the senior. We usually have a couple extra crew members with us that wouldn't mind taking pictures. We don't have a digital camera though! That is that high tech stuff we don't get in Md. yet haha! I talked with Derno but I can never find anyone else!

Marlin you even know my quad ran outa gas in the last lap which I would have finished easy 3rd but i got screwed over. Luckly to me one of boriches crew gave me a quarter tank which abled me to finish the race. When i returned home that day I took apart my carb and the main jet was totally out, I was told I was lucky the quad even stayed running. Well hope to see everyone there at the next race I might be moving up to B class but if not ill be racing C with you derno and the other boys.

Rrider07 I'm glad you are O.K.! I was about 10 feet behind you when you crashed. I really didn't see exactly how it happened, but I saw you and your quad flying through the air. You were sort of tangled up with the quad as it was rolling and flipping. Then it slammed you to the ground. I could tell you were knocked out as soon as you hit the ground. Looked like one of those Bull riders when they get knocked out. I went around to the left of you and didn't see anything else but, I had heard later that 2 other quads ran you over before they could get stopped. Once we came back around and they stopped us for the re-start, I told my buddy that there was no way you were going to get up and out of there on your own. You sure proved me wrong! I'm glad. I will probably have flash backs from that for a while at every start! Again, I'm glad you are O.K. and good luck getting back up to par! Later, Doug
