the piston choice may play a factor here. with the right piston and you wanting mx or high rpm performance, i would go with the stage 2. if you are wanting it for trails, cruising, etc i would say stage 1. my friend has a stage 1 in his 406 and it runs strong. i have a stage 2 in my 406 and it runs strong too but you need to keep the rpm's up pretty high for best performance.

you might want to check into whether or not you need to hardface your rockers for a stageII cam. Unless your strickly racing I would stick with a stageI with a good exhaust, K&N, and maybe a rev box.

You should not hardface your rockers for either one of the hotcams (stage 1 or 2). They are made of the same stuff as the stock cam. So if you get hardface rockers, they will wear the cam out.

Stock Honda rockers are hard faced.

that hardfacing of rockers is crap, I run a Web Cam on stock rockers, even CT Racing runs this cam on stock rockers. until you get into "big cams" the stock valvetrain is fine

I have ran a webcam all round on stock rockers and the out come was not too good.

And you don't want to run hardend rockers with the hotcam.
