:o as you all may or may not know i own a 2002 honda/duncan 440ex w/head porting and polish, pipe cam and 11:1 je piston. what can i do to get a faster start off of the holeshots, i fear that the new yamaha 450s will blow it away there which theres probubly nothing that i can do to keep that from happening but i dont want to look as bad as i do now off a dead start.

ya higher compression or maybe a lower end cam would help, and changing the gearing

As for dead engine starts try a stronger battery.I always try to anticipate the flag, since I'm usually 2 or 3 rows back from the pro's I try to gage the reaction time from the flag man.By the time my class takes off I am usually right on.Some people like to start in second I am always afraid of dumping the clutch to quickly and killing it but with your mods you should have no problem.

dont run a bottom end cam, that motor was built for topend. id play with the gearing.;)

thanx, ive got a stronger battery my gearing is already been tinkered with and i believe it is 1 tooth bigger in the front. i was wondering more on the lines of how to know whether or not im at top dead center because i8 know the yamahas have something in them that when they are shut off they go back to top dead center and they are supposed to start faster when theyre at top dead center. or i could be wrong, they might just be fast.     :huh
