ok heres my problem i have just bought a 250r off of my brother and the thing is i have never rode or been around 2 strokes that much so i dont know if i will like it or not. all that i was riding before was a 185 atc. i always told my self that i would not want a 2 stroke but the price was to good to be true. so can somebody tell me what some good things are about a 2 stroke??

thanks for the help

the other thing that i dont like is the fact of the powerband you dont have a steady source of power like you do with a 4 stroke

Once you get on that pipe, you'll never want to go 4-stroke again.

Welcome to the "250r cult"...

i think that i might because i took the bike all apart and had the frame powdercoated and cleaned it up so it looks pretty nice right know i am waiting on my axel bearings to come in. but it runs and i go out there like four times a week and just start it up and just listen to it. i cant wait to start racing harescrambles and some mx. i hope it works out i got the quad for a dang good price only $1000 bucks and there is absolutly nothing wrong with it. i might post some pics when i get it all back together.

Most 2-strokes have mind-bending acceleration...they just scream basically...that's really all you need to know about the 2-stroke...and you're supposed to rebuild the top end every year, pull in the clutch around corners and keep the rpm's high and you'll scream out of the corners...

All you need to do is get it put together and ride it. After that you'll never ask any questions in doubt of a 250R again. I always thought I was going to be a 4 stroke guy, then I rode a 250R. It was one if the greatest feelings ever, nothing feels like a 2 stroke. Now I tell everyone I will always own a 250R. Once you get it together and ride you will love it!

....i kinda feel the opposite way....at least about 2stroke dirtbikes...i had a four-stroke '74 xl125, and then i sold it and got a 89 yz125....i had so mayn problems with the yz, top end, reeds, carbureator, bad gaskets, screwed up pipe, all that good stuff....i should have kept the xl, but i havent riddent a two stroke quad yet, but i really like the four strokes...right now im working on fixing my go kart...had a wooden frame with a 6hp engine on it, long story short, my friend made the engine appear in the drivers seat:eek2:  ....so time for a metal frame:D

i would give my quad, my ps2, all my nascar collectables, and even give up the flag to have a 250r

what do you expect man, its an 89, 15 years old. It seems like when the old ones go bad everything goes bad on them if you dont replace the stuff before it actually completely needs it.

I love my 2 stroke cr250. The loud Womp when i get on it. the ability to go over 80 if i would like to:devil: and get there in a matter of seconds. I had a 98 kx125 that gave me a crap load of problems, blew up like 4 days after i got it, fixed, blew again, Brand new engine.. NEver thought i would get a 2 stroke again, but i went to the honda shop and seen my cr250 sittin there and was obsessed. And you dont have to rebuild them every year, but some people to just to avoid the problems that happen when your flying and it siezes up. Mine lasted 3 years on a stock rebuild, and i rode it practically everday for a year. Shows my maintnence "un" laziness:blah: :macho:
