I'm buying a quad in about 2 weeks and I want ur opinion on which one should I choose!!! I tried the 400EX and I liked it but I never tried the Z/KFX and I don't have enough money to buy a 450R and YFZ so which one is the best (performance) quad.
And if any of you had problems with ur Z/KFX let me know please becuz I don't want to get stuck with a broke quad !!!!
Thanx

the z/kfx has major frame problems, alot were breaking, i suggest the 400ex

no not at all..the frame was updated....and dude the ex doesn't have reverse and its air cooled..doesn't go to good with simple mods such like a pipe or removing the air box lid...

the 400ex is reliable as can be, but, the z-400 has liquid cooling, reverse, and is a little more powerful.

Z/KFX have a much better engine, but the 400 has better ergos. I'd go with the z if your gonna mod up the suspension at all. If not, I'd go with the ex.

paul, you better shut your trap. you know mine never over heats and you even said it wasent a big deal only being air cooled. and since when do we need reverse?

o and to answer the question a 400ex is a great quad with good handling and i dont know why people say it sucks maybe it does in comparision to newer quads.. but it has plenty of power for most people z/kfx sits up a little higher than the ex and doesnt handle quite as well but if your going to mod the suspension that doesnt matter really... go ride a kfx up at the dealer and see which one you like more

Plus, you can find ex's for a heck of a lot cheaper (used) then kfxs. By the time you would have spent the same amount of money as a new kfx, you could already have 2 to 2.5 grand of stuff into your ex. Just my two cents

did they update the frame? I looked at a 2003 and a 2004 z-400 and I saw nothing different anywhere.

beefier welds and new metal supplier = upgrades

i would still gusset it.

with the release of the YFZ and 450R, you can find used Z/KFX for a little more($200-500) than a used 400EX.

Really? I haven't seen any in my area less then 4800! Maybe I am not looking hard enough.:)

i'd get the kawi over it. just the liquid cooled part would be enough to make my decision... not into air/oil cooled stuff..i cant stand my 300 because of that...

The EX is a great and very realiable quad. I have never had any problems with mine being air cooled. If you are that worried you can still get like a $30-$40 set of air scoops which help a lot.
