i was just curious, i am planning to buy some works tripple rate shocks in the near future. My question is are 400ex and 250r shocks the same. I have seen shocks on e-bay that were the ones that i want, but they were for a 250r. I have heard that they will work just fine. I have a 400ex.

yes they are the same, my friend has a 250r, and he put stock 400 shocks on it. they work just fine.
they are the almost the same length. just barley different but they will work on each other.

the 400EX front shocks are an inch or so longer than the 250R front shocks. I don't know about the rear shocks.

i have an R and a 400 the shock thengths are they same and will bolt right up but there are weight differnces to take inot consideration, the 400 is much heavier then the R and to work properly they should be valved stiffer.

I have R shocks on the front of mine, they work great! The rear will not interchange, so I am told.
