Hey all new guy here.

I'm looking at getting a '04 400EX and was wondering if the lack of reverse was a pain or not. I'll be doing mainly trail riding some of which can get kind of tight/ tough. Do you guys ever have problems getting the quad out of a stuck spot? Is the bike easy to throw around?

Thanks
MOrider

I just got my 400,so i aint got much seat time in.But i have had it stuck a few times in deep snow.I didnt have any problems getting off and lifting it around. Its not a heavy quad,so its really not a big problem.I admit,it would be nice to have a reverse.I took that into deciding which i wanted,a 300 or 400.I came to the conclusion,i ride forward 99.9% of the time.So the very little i would need reverse, wasnt as important as the amount of power and other features the 400 has.I figured if i wanted reverse,id have to downgrade to a less powerful quad(honda anyways).I will say,Im very glad i got the 400! This is all MY opinion tho.

You will get used to not having it. You will learn to park in a way were you won't need reverse. But the 400 is not that heavy so throwing it around is not that difficult.

by the time you get your reverse working on the 300ex i would done be long gone, usually when i ride with people with reverse i can tuen around faster then them, i learned the art of front brake and spin the back end around a long time ago with my banshee, sometimes u can almost turn around in the same spot, if you can slip the clutch and get the rear tires spinnin

i would rather have the reverse but the last quad i had with reverse was a raptor and before that a 250x neiter one worked well
so ive never had experiece with the Z but its nice but you get used to not having it

i've never really had a problem.
even when i rode a friends z400 i didnt use the reverse.. just jumped off and pulled/lifted it around. Seems easier.. getting into reverse is a pain too. Theres only a few times i think i would really use it.. or need to use it. I jsut pull my quad off the trailer ands tuff anyways

I can spin a quad around without reverse, but it is nice to have it in the tight stuff.

I'd love it if my R had reverse. It's just a convenience/lazy thing but I wouldn't ever not consider a quad just because it doesn't have reverse - its not that big of a deal.
