I would like to go...but we just got back from there about 3 weeks ago. It was great until the last day we were there. There was a sand storm and it started to rain, but it was worth it. We will probably be going back soonbecause we have a pass thats good for all year. BLM took over Sand Mountain and now there are rangers, rules, and it cost money :(
Wish I could go though!!!!!

I'd really like to go, but every time I have said I'll meet someone there, it always falls through.

I can give you a very definite "maybe" for the 20th.

Much of it will depend on my trailer. My old trailer got stolen. I have a line on another one, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get it titled and registered this week.

It will probably be Thursday or Friday before I have a definite yes or no. :(

When are you planning on leaving?

The riding are is actually pretty big. Behind the bgi hill there are tons of smaller hills. There is also places where you can go out into the trails. The drag hill is fun but I have not been on it with my 440.

Sand Mountain is really tall, but compared to the likes of Glamis or Pismo, then yes, the riding area is small. Fortunately, at least 3/4 of the people are crowding around the front side where there is very little riding area. If you head to the back side, you have wide open space with few people around. There's at least twice as much riding area on the back side as there is on the front.

The Sand Mountian hillshoot is legendary. Although the dune area is pretty small compared others, LOTS of big money comes out to Sand Mountain to really test there mettle in the hillshoot.

Yeah, it's not worth a special trip, but it would certainly be worth a detour if you were coming down here for WORCS in May, but it sound's like you're probably not. :(

The riding area got even smaller late last year when BLM implemented a designated route system through about 1200 acres. Most of the trails in this area were closed.

Check here (http://www.sandmountain-nv.org/blm_routes_sand_mountain.htm) for latest closure map and info.
